Eastward Ho ?
On the front page of the Monday, May 7 edition of The Calgary Sun was an article about public - sector professionals leaving Calgary and moving eastward. The news story makes particular mention of a couple and their four children who have elected to relocate to Nova Scotia stating with regards to Calgary: " It's too expensive, it's too money driven and people are missing out on family and quality of life".
There is concern over the increasing number of job vacancies in the Calgary Health Region. With the high cost of living in Alberta's hot housing market people are looking to move eastward where housing is more affordable and their dream of having a family, backyard and home ownership can be realized within a shorter time.
On the front page of the following edition of The Calgary Sun ( Tuesday, May 8 ) the Daily Poll asks the question: " Have you considered leaving Calgary for a less expensive part of the country?".
Wed. May 9: slightly more than 75% of respondents to the poll have said: Yes.
