On the front page of the Monday, May 7 edition of The Calgary Sun was an article about public - sector professionals leaving Calgary and moving eastward. The news story makes particular mention of a couple and their four children who have elected to relocate to Nova Scotia stating with regards to Calgary: " It's too expensive, it's too money driven and people are missing out on family and quality of life".
There is concern over the increasing number of job vacancies in the Calgary Health Region. With the high cost of living in Alberta's hot housing market people are looking to move eastward where housing is more affordable and their dream of having a family, backyard and home ownership can be realized within a shorter time.
On the front page of the following edition of The Calgary Sun ( Tuesday, May 8 ) the Daily Poll asks the question: " Have you considered leaving Calgary for a less expensive part of the country?".
Wed. May 9: slightly more than 75% of respondents to the poll have said: Yes.

The Canadian market has remained good although housing markets in the U.S. have weakened. For Nova Scotia the first quarter was the second highest on record. Our local market is expected to continue growing. With such quick and easy access to HRM our residential and commercial markets are growing steadily. Lots of local new development is an indication of investors' positive outlook for the West Hants area. Other pluses include:

Also, effective April 20/07, the requirement for mortgage default insurance dropped from 25% to 20%.

Nova Scotia, Canada's second smallest province, encompasses about 21,000 square miles and is almost an island. It is connected to the remainder of the country only by the Isthmus of Chignecto. Situated on the southeastern coast of Canada halfway between the Equator and the North Pole Nova Scotia enjoys a moderate climate with milder winters than most of Canada due to the effects of the Gulf Stream. Summers are cooler along the coast and warmer inland. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Bay of Fundy, Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence Nova Scotia has over 7000 kilometers of coastline ranging from spectacular beaches to rugged cliffs. With its fertile, rolling farmland, beautiful inland lakes and ample coasts Nova Scotia is an outdoor playground for sailing, golfing, fishing, hiking and site-seeing. The easy-going, stress-free lifestyle makes Nova Scotia a great place to live, visit, work or play. Properties along the coasts have become more and more sought after as second homes for many from away including European countries and the United States. As well, there are many, both locals and 'Come from Away's' who choose lakefront properties on any one of a number of Nova Scotia's sparkling fresh water lakes.
